New Bentley W12 near Miami, FL
Bentley Motors, Britain's newly awarded "Most Admired Automotive Manufacturer," has been delivering high-class vehicles to the masses for decades. Starting in 2024, however, England's premier luxury marquee is pivoting away from what has made them famous: their W-12 engines. Instead, all full-petrol vehicles will be replaced by plug-in hybrids, such as the Flying Spur Hybrid, and Bentley EVS.

What's that mean for you? If you're looking to buy a new Bentley W12, this is your final chance to do so! Order slots are extremely limited—just over 100,000 will be made—and once we hit April 2024, production on the entire W12 line will end.

"Our progressive journey towards sustainable luxury mobility means making changes to every area of Bentley Motors," says Adrian Hallmark, Bentley's Chairman and Chief Executive. "When we first launched the W12 back in 2003, we knew we had a mighty engine that would propel both our cars and the brand forward at speed. Twenty years and more than 100,000 W12s later, the time has come to retire this now-iconic powertrain as we take strides towards electrification..."

It's important to note that W12's swan song isn't a whimper. With the release of the Batur, Bentley's engineering team developed the company's most powerful road-going vehicle ever. And while that Batur is sold-out, the 659-PS version of its 12-cylinder engine can still be found in the Continental GT Speed, Bentayga Speed, and Flying Spur Speed—for now. Demand for all these Bentley Speed vehicles is extremely high, so we recommend speaking with our Miami Bentley dealership now if you'd like to place an order.

What's Next for Bentley?

The entire line of W12s will make the switch to hybrid V8 and V6 plants, and all W12 engineers are being redeployed to work within the company's new "sustainable luxury mobility" sectors. This comes at a time in which Bentley, in striving to become fully carbon neutral by 2030, has created nearly 200 new vacancies to support their electrified Beyond100 strategy.

"Bentley is in the middle of the most significant transformative phase in the company’s long and illustrious history," said Dr. Matthias Rabe, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Research and Development. "We are looking for true innovators, who can create the new future of automotive, support our product ambitions and shape our Beyond100 vision as we aim for leadership within sustainable luxury mobility.”

By that April 2023 date, a hybrid version of every Bentley should be available, including the Bentayga Hybrid and Flying Spur Hybrid. And according to the marquee's "Five in Five" plan, a new electric Bentley is slated to be released every year between 2025 and 2030. In fact, the company has already created a place to produce these EVs: the Bentley Dream Factory in Crewe, which will feature a carport powered by 10,000 solar panels. The best luxury EVs are right around the corner!
