The best-selling Bentley Bentayga is getting a big-time makeover at the end of 2022. With their new focus on wellness, Bentley's redesigned their fan-favorite SUV, focusing even more on their signature blend of comfort, customization and performance.
Bentley is famed for offering thousands of model configurations. We can’t possibly cover them all here, but with the news just breaking about this exciting Bentayga Extended Wheelbase iteration, let’s take a look at just a few of the ways their best luxury SUV is about to get even better.
Seating Configurations
Industry-topping seating permutations are among the 2023 Bentayga EWB’s most important features. In fact, it’s the main reason they extended the cab in the first place.
Some observant Bentley fans have already noted that the new EWB version doesn’t offer a third row—weird, considering standard-sized Bentayga models offer this option, and the Extended Wheelbase Bentley is a full 7.1 inches longer between the tires. This is because, simply, having a third row was never the point. This new SUV makes the comfort of second row passengers a priority. All of the length is added in the second door, between the B and C-pillars.
This change was implemented to enable one of the 2023 Bentayga’s most exciting customizable options. Three different rear seat configurations are available:
Five Seat Comfort Specification
This configuration most resembles your standard SUV setup, with two seats in the front row, and three in the second row. While it’s similar to previous Bentayga iterations, the Extended Wheelbase offers some truly industry-leading levels of legroom.Four Seat Comfort Specification
This configuration eschews the middle seat in the second row in favor of a center console for extra storage and USB-C charging ports. The seats themselves get an upgrade as well—both have 16 different ways they can be adjusted, to ensure the absolute pinnacle of comfort on longer trips.It also allows for a ski hatch for all you sporting Bentley owners out there. To top it off, the Mulliner Console Bottle Cooler can be equipped instead, providing enough space to chill a standard 750 ml bottle, along with two Cumbria Crystal Flutes.
4+1 Seat Comfort Specification
Lastly, and perhaps most excitingly, is the 4+1 Bentayga EWB. Think of this one as a sort of middle ground between the other two—you get your 16-way adjustable extra cushy outside seats, but with an occasional middle seat that can fit a fifth full grown adult. This configuration also provides ski hatch access, as well as a host of other features like outer seat massage programs, built-in ventilation, and armrest storage with USB-C chargers.
As you can see, it offers some of the best of both worlds, and it’s perhaps the model we’re most proud of. But, of course, that’s not the only thing we’re proud of…
Introducing the Bentley Airline Seat Specification
This configuration—available in both the Four Seat and 4+1 specifications—takes the opulence and coziness of the EWB’s rear row and kicks it up into the stratosphere. With this upgrade, Bentley is seeking to provide a truly first-class experience.
In addition to adding even more ways to adjust the seats, this improved technology offers what Bentley is calling their Postural Adjustment function. This works using additional air pockets in the back of the seat, around the shoulders, and on the thighs. By implementing slight but continuous adjustments (177 over the course of a few hours), it effectively turns the rear seat of the Bentayga EWB into the world’s most luxurious rolling spa.
It also includes Seat Auto Climate. Passengers can pick from a variety of desired temperature settings, and sensors in the seat will actually take thermal and moisture readings to continually adjust for the desired setting. With both heating and ventilation, this feature seeks to keep rear passengers at their most comfortable.
Two distinct quick modes can also be activated with the push of the rear touch screen:
- Business Mode brings the seat to its most upright to facilitate productivity.
- Relax Mode brings the front passenger seat to its most forward position to maximize rear legroom and deploy a carpeted footrest. The rear seat can be reclined as much as 40 degrees to achieve the perfect angle for resting.
All of these features and more represent a new altitude for Bentley’s goal to provide the very best in wellness.

Bespoke Features, Unprecedented Customization
For the Bentayga EWB’s launch, Bentley is offering 3 separate editions: standard, Azure, and the top-of-the-line Bentayga Azure First Edition, which is seeing a limited production run. The latter two will have a complement of exclusive potential features, but that doesn’t mean the standard Bentayga EWB is a slouch where comfort and technology is concerned.

- Front Seat Comfort Specification comes with a 20-way adjustable driver’s seat, complete with ventilation and massage settings, and comfort headrests.
- Bentley Diamond Illumination offers mood lighting in 30 different colors, customizable through the touch screen display.
In order to provide the greatest comfort for everyone involved, the front and rear both get their own touch screen display. Rear passengers will also benefit from optional high-definition screens mounted on the front headrests, and the crystal clear Naim for Bentley sound system.
Another exciting level of customization is the sheer number of colors and finishes to choose from, both inside and out. Choose from dozens of exterior paint jobs, interior veneers, and leather upholstery, including many only available through Bentley’s historic partnership with Mulliner.

In fact, this system allows for a 7% smaller turning circle than the standard Bentayga.
Finally, bringing it back to comfort—the Dynamic Ride system provides a silky-smooth drive, from lazy Sunday jaunts through the city, to rugged excursions in the country. The optional All-Terrain Specification allows you to select the perfect drive mode for any occasion. Some people guffaw at the idea of taking a Bentley off-roading, but they’ve proven once again that there’s almost no place the best-selling SUV can’t go.
