To Hybrid or Not to Hybrid?
With the Lamborghini Urus, you get a beastly luxury SUV, to be sure. It boasts a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 that packs a punch, pushing zero-to-sixty in just 3.6 seconds – 0.2 seconds better than the 6.0L W12 Bentayga Speed. However, both Lamborghini and Bentley SUVs hit a top speed of 190 mph, and that quickly run off the line is indiscernible to the average driver.
What really sets the Bentayga and Urus apart are their available options. Unlike the new Lamborghini Urus, the Bentley Bentayga comes as an optional plug-in hybrid model. Sacrificing top speed and overall horsepower for efficiency, the Bentayga Hybrid SUV can travel 25 miles in battery-only mode and returns 83 mpg (combined). The thirsty Urus only returns 14 mpg combined.
In addition to the Bentayga Hybrid and Bentayga Speed, you can also opt for an all-new Bentayga S or Bentayga V8 trims. Urus just comes in... well, Urus flavor.
Which is the Better Family Hauler?
Lamborghini’s penchant for building super sporty vehicles is a blessing to some Urus owners, though the typical driver of a luxury SUV requires more than just a vehicle that can zip. The new Lambo Urus doesn’t cater to those types, unfortunately, as it only comes with two rows of seats. Even from the outside, the Lamborghini SUV looks like your driveway’s sardine can.
Bentley Bentayga's models take into account both types of luxury SUV owners. Beefy enough to invoke goosebumps around turns yet spacious enough for a family of six, the new Bentayga is a far better (and larger) SUV than the Urus. Attention to Detail
To be fair, thoughtfully crafted vehicles are both Lamborghini and Bentley’s bread and butter. While the Urus and Bentayga certainly offer premium grade “stuff,” it’s the little things that matter.Take Bentayga’s climate control system, for example. Split into four separate zones, the climate control setup inside the Bentayga caters specifically to each front and second-row occupant.
The Bentayga also features a detachable rear tablet that can control everything from interior ambient lighting to the cabin’s main audio system, like the SUV’s available 20-speaker Naim hardware.
Bentley engineers even worked their magic outside by crafting heated windshield wiper blades. The system utilizes nearly 2 dozen heating elements and fans to enhance visibility when driving conditions are poor.
Overall Value
When it comes down to it, the Bentley Bentayga is a better value than the Lamborghini Urus.
