
Time to experience the most splendid time of year: The holiday season! With National Christmas Lights Day fast approaching – or having already past, if you’re reading this after December 1 – we thought we’d get into the gift-giving spirit by filling up your calendar with some holiday light shows and displays. Whether it’s a drive-thru event, a neighborhood winter wonderland, or something more traditional, South Florida’s bound to have something fun for you to add to your holiday lights tour this year. Check these out.
1. Zoo Lights Miami
November 26 – December 30, 2021 | zoomiami.orgEnjoy over one million Christmas lights, a 26-foot tree display, holiday decorations, hot cocoa and cookies, arts and crafts, Santa’s River Boat Ride, and cute animal appearances. Santa will be visiting the Miami Zoo through December 23, 2021, so get your tickets before he hibernates!
2. Santa’s Enchanted Forest
November 4, 2021 – January 2, 2022 | santasenchantedforest.comThis popular South Florida destination offers some of the best Christmas lights in Hialeah as well as roller coasters and amusement park rides, carnival games, magic shows, and visits with Santa.
3. Night of Lights
December 10, 2021 – January 2, 2022 | pinecrestgardens.orgWith places like Bright Lights Miami closed for the year, this Pinecrest winter wonderland becomes a must-visit stop on any holiday lights tour. Thousands of Christmas lights will get put up all throughout the botanical gardens, and there’s also an enormous holiday maze for families to sort their way through. Several performances are planned, so check the website before purchasing tickets.
4. Deering Estate
November 26, 2021 – January 6, 2022 | deeringestate.orgIf you own a Bentley Bentayga (or any Bentley, really), Deering Estate’s absolutely captivating holiday decorations are for you. Each room and building within the Estate, from the Mediterranean Stone House to the quaint Richmond Cottage, gets treated with glittering holiday décor. Visitors can check out the elegant Historic Holiday Décor at Deering Estate starting after Thanksgiving.
5. Night Garden
Select dates through January 3, 2022 | thenightgarden.comMiami’s award-winning holiday event returns this year, bringing with it an unbelievable experience for all ages. Night Garden will feature stunning holiday lights and activities for the whole family, including the new FairyScope augmented reality zone. It’s not to be missed.
6. Coral Gables Holiday Tree Lighting
December 3, 2021 | coralgables.comIt wouldn’t be Christmas in Coral Gables without their annual tree lighting ceremony. At 6:00 PM on December 3, the city hits the switch and turns on their enormous Holiday Tree. In years past, this Christmas event in Coral Gables also included a visit from Santa; check their website to see if he’s got time to swing by the tree in 2021.
7. The Enchanted Place of North Miami
December 1, 2021| Facebook PageRecognized as one of the best places to see holiday lights in Miami, The Enchanted Place has already begun decorating for the season. Targeting an opening of December 1, this fabulous little piece of the North Pole will feature hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights, music, decorations, and more. Take a stroll through the neighborhood at least once before December ends.
8. Symphony of Lights
November 13 – December 31, 2021 | gulfstreampark.comHallandale Beach kicks off their annual Symphony of Lights event on November 13, 2021, with weekly visits from Santa also on the schedule beginning November 27. Ring in the holidays at Gulfstream Park Village with their 10-minute holiday light show, which features more than 250,000 lights synchronized to Christmas music.
9. Forest and Field of Lights
December 4, 2021 – January 3, 2022 | pinecrestgardens.orgPinecrest Gardens is treating the entire community this December with their all-new immersive light experience, Forest and Field of Light. Created by British artist Bruce Munro, this nightly exhibit opens to the public from December 4 through the New Year weekend and will offer one of the most peaceful views you’ll ever see.
10. Luminosa: A Festival of Light

Located in Jungle Island, Luminosa features over 1 million LED lights and 13 acres of trails, which are full of life-sized Chinese Lanterns. With admission, you’ll also get to watch 2 acrobat shows, listen to live music, and order drinks from the Moet lounge. Tickets are limited, so order early.
11. Lincoln Road Mall
Thanksgiving – New Year | lincolnroadmall.comHit two birds with one stone by getting some shopping done and checking out the glamorous holiday decorations at Lincoln Road Mall. From Thanksgiving through the New Year, virtually every store located at this outside mall in Miami Beach will be lit up and decking the halls.
12. Santa’s Drive-Thru Village
December 3 – 23, 2021| santasdrivethruvillage.comMiramar’s Regional Park hosts Santa’s Drive-Thru Village through to Christmas Eve. Guests are invited to meet Mr. Claus himself in a socially distanced way while looking at the dazzling Christmas lights. Just be sure to bring your letters to Santa! (Check website for updated 2021 hours.)
13. Light Up the Night
November 21 – December 31, 2021 | cityplacedoral.comWatch this fantastic holiday fountain light show at the top of every hour over at Doral CityPlace. The fountain is lit up with colorful holiday lights that are synched to change along with the show.
14. Christmas Lights in the Acres
Various Dates | Facebook PageLocated in Plantation Acres, this South Florida Christmas light show is very popular. That’s because it features a billion-zillion lights, displays and decorations, all of which take hundreds of hours to set up. You can even download their official app (Apple and Google) to get your tickets and learn more.
15. Miramar’s Holiday Magical Park
Select dates from December 4 – December 23, 2021 | TicketsThe Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater gets a holiday makeover this December! It’ll be full of Christmas decorations and beautiful light displays, fun rides, treats, and lots of cheer. It’s one of the better holiday events in Hollywood, FL.
16. Doral Tree Lighting & Movie Night
December 1, 2021 | Facebook PageZip up those pajamas and head to the Doral Government Center for their yearly tree lighting. This year, following the tree lighting ceremony, there will be a special screening of the film Polar Express on the lawn. Stick around and get your picture taken with Santa, too!
17. Light Up the Holidays in Fort Lauderdale
Various dates | parks.fortlauderdale.govWe know we said there were 17 places to see Christmas lights around South Florida, but we lied – there are really 20 on this list! That’s because Light Up the Holidays is actually a group of several events throughout Fort Lauderdale’s parks system.
- Light Up the Beach (Nov 23, 2021) - Over 50,000 holiday lights will be turned on at Las Olas Oceanside Park. The event will also have a 20-foot snowman, a kids play zone, Santa, inflatables, slides, pony rides, and live performances.
- Menorah Lighting Celebration (Nov 29, 2021) - Honor the first night of Hanukkah with the traditional menorah lighting ceremony at Las Olas. Kosher treats will be available.
- Light Up Sistrunk (Dec 3, 2021) - This unique holiday event in Fort Lauderdale features live bands and performances, a toy giveaway, photos with Santa, bounce houses, game trucks, a kid’s zone, and the annual lighting of the holiday tree.
- Light Up Carter Park (Dec 11, 2021) - Get into the holiday spirit at Carter Park, which will be decorated with tons of Christmas lights. The event will also have train rides, bounce houses, face painting, crafts, prize giveaways, and the lighting of Carter Park’s famous Holiday Tree.
